What customers say?

“ It was my first time there. When I looked inside the restaurant, the counter was full and there was one group waiting. While I was waiting, I looked around the restaurant and saw that the counter was made of plain wood and looked cool, but there were only a few plates in the cupboard at the back and a lot of plastic wrap piled up, and I thought that they didn't care much about where people looked. To be honest, it felt uncool. After about 15 minutes, we were finally seated. We ordered a platter and then added more. We ate quickly from lunch. All the sushi was delicious. When I took out my card to pay, the waiter said, "We only take cash." I felt my blood go cold. Oh no! Only cash these days? That's bad. I don't have enough money! I thought! I was nervous and gathered up the bills in my wallet, and since I only had 20,000 yen, if it wasn't enough I'd have to leave my son and get some more! My anxiety was growing as I thought about it, and at that moment, the chef gave me some pickles wrapped in seaweed. Maybe they'll give it to us as a complimentary gift when it's time to pay. It was very refreshing and delicious. It was a blissful moment amidst all my anxiety. We were surprised when we saw the paper handed to us saying it was the bill, is that for us? We ate a ton but it was less than 9,000 yen for two people! Wow! We were so nervous but it was so cheap there was no need to worry! We suddenly got embarrassed and both of us laughed until our stomachs were watering. This price for a sushi restaurant in the center of Ashiya? And there were three professional chefs there. I guess that's why there's a waiting list. Even if it draws in customers, it's a popular restaurant where customers just keep coming back. We'll come again. ”

“ This sushi restaurant was recommended by a friend who lives in Ashiya. It's so delicious that I go there regularly with my kids. ”

“ I arrived at the restaurant by car at 10:55 AM on Saturday. There were two people in line, so I parked in La Porte's parking lot and returned, only to find that the line had grown to five. I looked up how many seats there were but couldn't find one, but I figured I'd be okay if I was sixth in line, so I decided to wait in line. (There were 15 seats in total.) While waiting, I lined up on the left side of the restaurant facing the front, which was in direct sunlight and extremely hot, even without sunburn. I'd started carrying an umbrella this year, so it wasn't so bad, but it was still too hot and I was dripping with sweat. It looked like everyone else without an umbrella was having a hard time. While I was waiting, a staff member came by 15 minutes before opening to check the line. He counted up to the person right behind us and said he thought that was it, so I was relieved to know we'd be able to get in the first round. By that time, the line had grown to about 20 people. Then, just before they opened, people accompanying those in line started arriving one after another, and I, who had been sixth in line, was pushed back to 11th. At this point, I still didn't know the number of seats, so if there were only eight or ten, I'd be out in the first round... I nervously entered the restaurant, but as mentioned above, there were 15 seats, so I was able to find a seat. However, groups of more than ten people couldn't get in on the first round, so we had to sit on chairs inside and wait. *Those who arrived by around 11:08 were safe. Since it was my first time there, I didn't know what they recommended, so I ordered the eight-roll assortment. More than half of the people there seemed to be regulars, and they started with the white fish, asking for all the white fish, and also ordered appetizers that weren't on the menu. The assortment was brought out in pairs, and the first was otoro and sardines. I started with the sardines, which had been described as a popular menu item in reviews, and then the otoro, but I wondered if this was really popular sushi? The sushi was so delicious that it made me think, "This is enough!", and all the sushi I had afterwards was also excellent. The menu says two rolls per person, but they can make just one roll, so I thought it was a safe place to come alone. After eating a variety of dishes and drinking two non-alcoholic drinks, the bill came to just over 4,000 yen. It was so cheap that I wondered if they'd made a mistake in the calculation. I could really see why people were willing to wait in line in the heat just to eat. I'd like to return when the sun is less intense and it's easier to line up. The sushi was very delicious. Thank you for the meal. ”

“ I've been here over 10 times. Reservations aren't accepted, so there's always a line before opening. You'll miss the first round if you don't arrive at least 40 minutes before opening. ◼︎Recommended Points ・The ingredients are huge and fresh. ・They'll grill them for free. ・The onions are incredibly delicious. ・The chefs are veterans, probably all over 60. ・The part-time staff in the dining area are also veterans. ・A rare find these days: a completely non-IT, analog environment. Highly recommended! ”

“ We visited on a Saturday. Thirty minutes before opening, there were two groups of four people in line, and 15 minutes before, there were four groups of eight people in line. It seemed like people who lined up right before opening might not have been able to get a seat on the first round. The restaurant only had counter seats, with maybe less than 15 seats. We weren't expecting much from the sushi, since it's not particularly close to a fishing port or market, but when we tried it, the ingredients were of high quality and it was surprisingly delicious. The bill for two people was about 10,000 yen, which I thought was cheap considering the amount of food. ”

“ Before talking about the restaurant, you need to understand the neighbourhood: Ashiya is a high class district, some part of this place are like Beverly Hills. That’s why you can find many small omakase sushi restaurants and other fancy places. This sushi place it’s something like “oh today I don’t want to cook, let’s go get some sushi behind the corner”…5000¥ at least. But it’s really good! The shop is super clean, looks new even if it’s not, it’s wide and feels fresh. It makes you happy already just entering. Three old men work no stop behind the counter to prepare amazing nigiri and maki. The quality of the fish, the rice, the nori, the wasabi and soy sauce are really good. It doesn’t taste sublime but it tastes really good. The menu isn’t huge but they have everything you need for a good sushi experience. I would say, it’s that kind of place where you go if you are in a good mood, it’s a nice day and you want to have some good food. ”

“ Ashiya City, Hyogo Prefecture I visited "Daiten" quite a while ago! This sushi restaurant is located about a two-minute walk from JR Ashiya Station. Key Points to Check: The ingredients are fresh! You can relax! Close to the station! The entire restaurant has counter seating. They opened at 11:30, but there was already a line before opening. I think I waited about 30 minutes. I ordered a platter and my favorite nigiri sushi. I also had some rolls. Everything was fresh! The sea urchin and herring roe were especially delicious. I'd definitely like to visit again. It's best to come early in the day before the ingredients sell out. Thank you for the meal! ”

“ The sea urchin is delicious and not too salty. For this price, this level is very good value. ”
